Participation: City and Commerce Forum

Our city is a place for high-quality strolling, shopping, working and time off for leisure and recreation, thanks to the continuous work of its commercial sector. Hence the importance of active participation from consumers and retailers alike to ensure such economic activity.

What is the Forum?

The City and Commerce Forum is a tool for encouraging involvement from sectoral and territorial associations, general commercial management organisations and sections, institutional representatives and municipal and external officers.

It is governed by its own internal rules.

It is a space for dialogue between the municipal government, the various commercial sectors and outstanding individuals from the commercial sector. The Forum has a participatory and advisory role, playing a part in how commerce is managed in Barcelona.

Functions:

Some of its main objectives include studying the role commerce should play in the city, analysing problems arising from sectors operating side-by-side and their contribution to the urban economy, as well as boosting ties and participation between administrations and commerce.

Timetable:

The Forum is held at least once a year.

What is the Council?

It is the City and Commerce Forum's standing body. It is consultative and participatory by nature and influences the commercial sector's policies.

Functions:

Its role is to propose, study and provide information on municipal policies which affect commerce in the city.

The Council meets at least twice a year.
